John J. Modzelewski is Director of Centers and Institution Building (C&IB) programs, joining CRDF at its establishment in 1995. He oversees programs that provide the training and resources to effect changes in the way that science and higher education are supported and conducted in Eurasia. This includes the Basic Research and Higher Education, Regional Experimental Support Centers and Institution Building programs. Prior to joining CRDF, Mr. Modzelewski was a program officer at the Office for Central Europe and Eurasia of the National Research Council/National Academy of Sciences. He also served briefly as a Program Associate at the Central European Center for Health and the Environment in Berlin, Germany. Mr. Modzelewski holds an M.A. in International Affairs with a Soviet Concentration from Columbia University and a B.A. in International Affairs from George Washington University.
