Technology Forecasting Workshop- Astana, Kazakhstan

CRDF and the National Innovation Fund of Kazakhstan (NIF) will sponsor a Technology Forecasting Workshop in Astana, Kazakhstan from July 21 to 23, 2010. The workshop will lay the groundwork for a national analytical center that will provide Kazkashtani policymakers with technological roadmaps for growth areas in several industrial sectors.  The workshop is being led by Larry Vanston of Technology Futures, Inc. (TFI) with support from Alan Felton of Felton Associates, Inc. and will address the following topics:

  • Technology forecasting in relation to the development of industry, such as how technology forecasting results may be used to support domestic industry;
  • Methodology of technology/technological forecasting - what tools can be used, what are the conditions of usage of these tools (the number of experts, the degree of involvement and a number of industrial enterprises, etc.) in order to obtain reliable results;
  • Detailed examples of technology/technological forecasting (case studies), which were performed in one or more countries.
